Laurel Blair Salton Clark

clark Laurel Blair Salton Clark, M.D. (Commander, USN)
NASA Astronaut, Mission Specialist

Mission specialist Laurel Blair Salton Clark, 41, a U.S. Navy commander, was onboard Columbia for her first space flight. Clark was a medical school graduate and trained in the Navy as an undersea medical officer and subsequently as a naval flight surgeon before joining NASA in 1996.

Clark was married with an 8-year-old son. Her home is in Racine, Wis.

Laurel Blair Salton Clark descends from William Blair.

William Blair came from Paisley, Scotland to America ca. 1800 and settled on Scotch Mountain in Delaware Co, NY. He had a son, Ebenezer Blair (b. 1809), who lived at Delhi, Delaware Co, NY.

Ebenezer married Clarissa Ann Jones (b. 1815 in NJ). Their daughter, Hannah Morris Blair (b. 12 October 1850 at Delhi, NY, d. 24 January 1927 at Lincoln Park, NJ), married Aaron Brant Haviland , Sr (b. 1836 at Elizabeth, NJ, d. 8 June 1910 at Elizabeth, NJ).

Their son, Aaron Brant Haviland Jr (b. 16 May 1875 at Elizabeth, NJ, d. 1954), married Emma C. Hohenesee (b. 1879 at Elizabeth, NJ, d. April 1953 at Hillside, NJ), who was the daughter of Emma and Frederich Hohensee.

Their son, Robert Blair Haviland (b. 2 April 1903 at Hillside, NJ, d. 25 July 1984 at Ames, Story Co, IA) married Mary Christina Doig (b. 11 November 1906 in Bovina, NY)

Their daugther, Marjory Blair Haviland (b. 22 May 1934 in Delhi, NY) m. Robert Salton.

Their daughter was Laurel Blair Salton Clark (d. 1 February 2003)

The above genealogical sketch was put together by the BSGR Genealogist, Charlotte Blair Stewart, and the BSGR Computer Committee Chairwoman, Morgan Blair Rajcevich. They used four primary sources of reference to establish this Blair line. The first was from the BSGR Genealogy database which contained information on the Blairs from Delaware Co, NY. Then the connection to Haviland and Salton was from The Baldwin Family  and Doig Family Histories websites. The connection to Dr. Clark was from NASA profiles. It is interesting to note that both Dr. Clark's mother and grandfather carried Blair as their middle names. Blair remains a Family to be proud of. I am sorry that we had to learn of Dr. Clark so tragically.
